Jean-Pierre Côté Named Recipient of the 2011 CRKN Ron MacDonald Distinguished Service Award

Ottawa – Sept. 19, 2011 – The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) is pleased to announce Jean-Pierre Côté as the 2011 recipient of the Ron MacDonald Distinguished Service Award. The award ceremony will take place at the All Delegate Reception on October 4, in Gatineau, Quebec, preceding the CRKN Annual General Meeting. This award recognizes Mr. Côté for the years of collaborative work he contributed in carrying out his vision to build library infrastructures to create mutual benefit for researchers and students across Canada.
Canadian Research Knowledge Network Establishes National Agreement with Canadian Science Publishing
Ottawa, January 13, 2011 - The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) is pleased to announce implementation of a new three-year license agreement with Canadian Science Publishing (CSP, formerly the NRC Research Press), Canada’s largest science and technology publisher. Effective January 1, 2011, the agreement provides advantageous terms and makes CSP’s full suite of 15 electronic journals available to researchers and students at 44 member universities across the country.

Canadian Research Knowledge Network Concludes Agreements for $140 Million in Digital Research Content
Ottawa, January 14, 2010 - The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) is pleased to announce the conclusion of three-year license renewals with 14 scholarly publishers, valued at approximately $140 million (CAD). These agreements follow an extended round of negotiations with publishers, aimed at providing CRKN’s 73 university members with world-class resources that foster innovative research and allow Canadian researchers to remain internationally competitive.
Ottawa, March 4, 2011 – The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) has renewed its agreement for the Elsevier SciVerse ScienceDirect Freedom Collection for 2011-2014, providing university researchers and students across Canada with the broadest access to a vast collection of high-impact electronic journals in multiple disciplines. 73 of CRKN’s 75 member institutions are participating in the agreement, including three institutions joining the license for the first time.
