CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: CRKN Finance & Audit Committee–External Member
The Executive Committee invites nominations from the CRKN membership to fill one external position on the Finance & Audit Committee. Nominees should be employed by a CRKN member institution, possess financial knowledge and expertise, and be available to serve for a 3-year term. This position is not confined to voting members.
The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) is pleased to welcome Gemini Cheng to its staff team. Gemini joins CRKN in the position of Office Administrator. She has responsibility for administrative and governance support, as well as for meeting and event planning and co-ordination. Gemini brings both administrative experience in a not-for-profit arts organization and more recently library experience in the Environment Canada Library to her new role. She has previously worked as a reference assistant for Huron University College Library, where she helped students and faculty navigate digital content for their research. Her experience with libraries in a government and academic setting has cultivated a dedication toward expanding digital access for research purposes. She began her work at CRKN on February 11, 2013.
The Board of Directors of the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Clare Appavoo as the organization’s new Executive Director, effective December 1, 2012.
Ms. Appavoo brings to the position nearly 20 years of management and customer service experience with strong knowledge of academic libraries, scholarly publishing, and digital content developments, most recently as Director, Sales and Strategic Support for Ingram, Coutts Information Services. In that capacity, Ms. Appavoo has worked closely with university libraries across North America to provide collections and acquisitions services for monographic content. Prior to joining Coutts, she worked with National Book Service serving public libraries primarily in Western Canada. Ms. Appavoo earned a BA in General Studies with minors in English, Women's Studies, and Fine and Performing Arts, followed by continuing education in management and leadership through York University's Schulich School of Business and the Human Capital Group.
